Waiting on a War

Waiting on a War

Foo Fighters

The third and final preview from Medicine At Midnight, “Waiting on a War” is a multi-faceted song that has a deeply personal meaning for Foo Fighters' leader Dave Grohl. Remembering his own youth, which he “spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future” due the frightening political tension between the United States and the Soviet Union during the 1980s, and taking the decisive inspiration from a conversation with his daughter Harper, Grohl has crafted a simple, but heartfelt dedication to the youngest generations, who often lose out on the most when the world’s greatest problems steal their youthful innocence.

Musically, “Waiting on a War” starts as a duet between Grohl’s trademark voice and the acoustic guitar, but more and more instruments (including strings, bass and drums) are added to the mix as the song transitions into its second half, where the gradual change of pace leads to an energetic and intense finale.
