Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)

Lindsay Lohan

“Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)” was written by Lindsay Lohan as a letter to her father Michael Lohan who was in jail after he was in a car crash and later charged with a DUI. It was released as the lead and only single from her second studio album A Little More Personal (Raw).

When Lindsay was asked about the lyrical content of the song, she said:

A lot of people go through family issues, abuse and that kind of thing. I think it’s important to show that other people go through it. I hope [my father] sees what I say in the song is ‘I love you’ so many times, that I need him and the crazy things in my life."

The song peaked at #57 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2005. The accompanying music video, directed by Lindsay herself, portrays her and her actual younger sister Aliana, listening to her parents arguing and fighting in the living room of their home. It topped MTV’s Total Request Live chart.
