“A Christmas Monologue” is an alternate version of the spoken break that, prior to the release of A Drummer Boy Christmas, Joel recited live during “Joy To The World”. The monologue begins by marveling the humble and innocent, yet powerful Christ, before shifting into imploring the audience to celebrate His coming, which is followed by the instrumentals building into the album’s climactic title track, “Little Drummer Boy”.
