“Happy Loner” is the first single (and fifth overall) from the deluxe edition of her album Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land. The song is described by Marina as “dedicated to the introverts, empaths, socially anxious and those who feel overwhelmed with life most of the damn time”.

Marina first teased the song on social media on September 11, 2020. The original post was captioned: “Happy Loner- Home Demo”, but was quickly deleted and reposted with an edited caption: “happy loner”. The song was formally announced over a year later, on November 29, 2021.
