With Cole’s lack of a love life mentioned in the previous song, he decides to call up an old flame to see if they can re-kindle what they had, only to find out she started a new life.

Throughout the song Cole tries to reach her over the phone, (hence the repetition of “hello”), while contemplating how he could have changed his life with her.

Note: It’s possible Cole is talking about the same girl he did on Game’s “Pray” given the details in both tracks.
