Formentera Lady

Formentera Lady

King Crimson

King Crimson’s 1971 album “Islands” was the group’s final album in their original formulation, as well as the final album to embody the progressive and symphonic sound that typified the first generation of the group. The four vocal tracks on the album are each reflections on love and relationships. The first track, Formentera Lady, is about romantic love in the most traditional sense. The narrator revisits a place where he met and fell in love with the “Formentera Lady” referenced in the song’s title. While she is gone (whether dead, moved elsewhere, or in the sense of being no longer part of his life is not clear), seeing this place again brings to mind old memories of their time together.

Formentera is an island in the Balearic Island chain off the southern coast of Spain in the Mediterranean.
