H.E.R. takes it back and samples Herb Alpert’s 1987 hit “Making Love in the Rain” on her R&B jam “Damage”—the second single from her 2021 debut album, Back of My Mind.

On the track, Wilson expresses how she allows herself to be vulnerable in a relationship but doesn’t want to be taken for granted by her lover.

In early 2022, “Damage” was nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance at the 64th Grammy Awards.
