On the penultimate song to the third chapter in the Man on the Moon trilogy, Kid Cudi communicates a simple message to the kids—you’re not alone.

Cudi dedicates the song to fans who have struggled like he has, which is a theme he’s been trying to put front and center his whole career. Embarking on his Man on the Moon journey, he declared his mission statement on 2009’s “Soundtrack 2 My Life”:

I try and think about myself as a sacrifice
Just to show the kids they ain’t the only ones who up at night

Although people of all ages can connect with Cudi’s music, it’s often the young who look up to him, and he’s often used “kids” to address fans in his songs.
