A love letter to John Hughes for creating memorable characters that outlive their two hours on screen. In a way, I kind of hoped a little bit of that might rub off on this song and help it be as endless as one Saturday in detention. My every hope is to be an “instant classic,” to come-of-age like a member of the Brat Pack.
