Bitch I’m Madonna

Bitch I’m Madonna

Madonna (Ft. Nicki Minaj)

“Bitch, I’m Madonna” is the third single off of Madonna’s thirteenth studio album Rebel Heart. It was the album’s only single to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #84.

The title has a fun play at Madonna’s iconic status with a party, club tone beat, co-produced by Diplo. The song also features mogul female rapper, Nicki Minaj. The line “Bitch, I’m Madonna” originally appeared in Kool A.D.’s 2013 single “Eroika.”

Its music video, directed by Swedish Jonas Åkerlund, was shot at the top floors on The Standard, High Line hotel in New York City. Besides Diplo and Nicki Minaj, the video features cameos of other artists such as Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus, Chris Rock, Alexander Wand and Jon Kortajarena, as well as Madonna’s sons, Rocco Ritchie and David Banda. In an interview, Åkerlund discussed how the project landed:

Madonna called me about ‘Ghosttown’. We hadn’t worked for a while because of different circumstances so when I heard all the songs [on Rebel Heart], I was very excited about ‘Ghosttown’. I connected to it creatively. And, yeah, we enjoyed working together. I was supposed to start something else right after and that got pushed and she asked me to do ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’. I saw it being so completely different from ‘Ghosttown’, something a little bit less serious, just fun and crazy.
