Last Day In

Last Day In

Kodak Black

“Last Day In” serves as Kodak Black’s freedom celebration, three days after the rapper was released from prison before the end of his 46-month sentence thanks to Donald Trump’s pardon.

“Last Day In” is the the spiritual successor to “First Day Out,” which Kodak released on June 15, 2017, after he served a 33-days sentence for violation of house arrest—both songs are produced by his friend Dyryk. Kodak establishes the connection between the two releases on the last words of the song’s sole verse:

This my first day out the joint, so that my last day in

The song finds Kodak rapping emotionally about coming back to his hometown of Pompano Beach as he mentions his mother, his Z’s—Kodak’s Zoe Pound gang—, Donald Trump and his lawyer.
