Way Less Sad

Way Less Sad

AJR

“Way Less Sad” is the twelfth track off of AJR’s newest album, “OK ORCHESTRA”. The song is the band’s way of looking into the world, trying to shine a brighter and less cynical light on the brothers surrounding.

Track 12 of the 13 track album “OK ORCHESTRA” discusses the trios New York life, and tries to paint a vibrant picture of modern societal norms.

The song makes reference to cancel culture, toxic environments, and ones inability “sleep at night” with the demons that loom over us.

In terms of lyrics, the tone itself is a more sincere look at the people that stand on the spinning globe, and the applications and lifestyle they choose compared to AJR themselves.

It also describes Jack’s emotional problems of pretending everything is ok. If you don’t know Jack was diagnosed with OCD a couple years ago and while playing Way Less Sad live, he opened up about how the root of the problem was pretending, he was ok. This song discusses about how he decided to admit his problems and how he wasn’t ok and just get help. The songs name and main chorus comes from after he admits his faults and gets help, how he doesn’t have full closure, and isn’t happy yet, but Way Less Sad.
