Maroon 5 enlists rapper Megan Thee Stallion for their first collaboration on “Beautiful Mistakes,” the third single from the band’s seventh studio album JORDI.

Lead singer Adam Levine and Megan Thee Stallion discuss a strained relationship, where they can’t forget their respectively lovers. While Levine sings throughout the song about pretending he’s still with his lover, Megan confronts a liar who did her wrong.

All artists teased the song, revealing its title, cover art, and release date on February 22, 2021. The official music video was released alongside the song on March 3, 2021.

Stylistically, the song diverges from the more acoustic sound of Maroon 5’s previous two singles, “Memories” and “Nobody’s Love”. This shift to the song’s trap-pop sound is likely due to the co-writing from alternative pop artist blackbear and frequent collaborator Andrew Goldstein.

The song has since been certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of a million units and it peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second-highest charting song from the album after lead single “Memories”.
