The Pokémon Company teamed up with Post Malone to create this cover of Hootie & the Blowfish’s 90s hit “Only Wanna Be With You” ahead of the 25th anniversary since the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan.
Post performed a virtual concert for Pokémon on February 27th, 2021—which officially marks the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
Additionally, the song’s intro samples Ecruteak and Cianwood Cities' theme from the 1999 Pokémon games Gold and Silver.
