On “Thugged Out”, YNW Melly recruits fellow Floridian rapper Kodak Black, who was recently given a presidential pardon from his firearms charges for their first collaboration together.

Melly raps about his early lifestyle, growing up in a bad neighborhood having to do illegal activities to get money, while Kodak talks about his time in prison and about various assaults.

Both rappers have been involved in various legal troubles as Melly is currently awaiting trial and as Kodak was sentenced to 46 months in 2019 after being released in 2021 with a presidential pardon. In this song, Kodak Black expresses his support for YNW Melly, who has been awaiting trial for double murder charges after being arrested back in February 2019.
