The song starts with a cover of “Luck Be a Lady Tonight” and turns into an electronic DJ mix of “Get Lucky” sampling themes of various TV shows: Mad Men, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story: Asylum, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad and The Big Bang Theory, which were all nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award that year.

It was performed prior to the presentation of the Outstanding Choreography award and the elaborate dance production was staged by the nominated choreographers. It was the first time the category was presented on a Primetime Show and not during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony.
