finale

ericdoa

Throughout “finale,” Eric has an emotional back and forth between himself and his alter ego, Dante Red. The song is a conversation between the two in which Eric informs Dante that he will be letting him go. There is a continuous change in vocals throughout the song to distinguish between the two, Dante being the heavily edited vocals and Eric sporting unedited ericdoa vocals.

Dante Red was a project that Eric started working on that was supposed to be a creative outlet aside from ericdoa, in which he could experiment with new sounds and Dante’s now-signature bitcrushed vocals. But, Eric soon found that it would grow into much more. Eric revealed on Twitter that Dante Red allowed them to grow as a person, saying:

dante was how i learned to be myself and im so happy the project brought you guys the same happiness it brought me. i love you all.

This song is a representation of how much Eric has grown as an artist and a tribute and farewell to the young, confused artist that he was before – discontinuing Dante Red.
