Happy With Me

Happy With Me

HOLYCHILD

“Happy With Me” takes the perspective of the female persona from different angles:

It says that our culture is wrapped up in superficial values, and if we just got over them we could spend our time conquering much greater issues. I’m kind of sarcastically saying, “Stop thinking about who looks better and join me on the other side where that doesn’t matter! Don’t you realize you’re stuck there!” Even though I feel that I am stuck on that side, too.
— Liz Nistico, Groundsounds (2013)

Brat pop duo HOLYCHILD’s debut “Happy With Me” hit the top of the HypeMachine charts within a week of its release. The song and its accompanying music video serves as the first half of a two-part story, with “Every Time I Fall” being the second half. Both songs are a part of the MINDSPEAK EP.

When “Happy With Me” premiered, they lacked a manager, agent, label, and income. The duo later signed with Glassnote Records. Liz Nistico told AMBY:

It felt so nice when our song “Happy With Me” received 100,000 plays in one week. It was actually surreal.

The track appears on their debut album The Shape of Brat Pop to Come.
