“LA Freeway” is a song about going home again. It’s a story song in the form of a conversation between Clark himself and his wife, Susanna. It’s as much a song about getting away from the L.A. scene as it is about going home.

The documentary film, Heartworn Highways opens with Clark, alone with his guitar, playing this song. The film chronicles the rise of outlaw country music and features songs by Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Guy Clark and David Allan Coe.
