It was the second single released from TP, Teddy’s fourth album. It charted at #2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B chart and peaked at #44 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

It was originally written for soul singer David Oliver and featured on his final album Here’s To You in 1980. Even though his version was released before Pendegrass’s it’s not as well known.

Since its release, the song has been covered by several artists including Michael McDonald, Hall & Oates, and Regina Belle.
