“I’ll Be Around” was released as the second single from Rappin' 4-Tay’s 1994 album Don’t Fight the Feelin'. The Spinners‘ 1972 hit “I’ll Be Around” is the musical base for 4-Tay’s version, but his message is more about helping others through struggles in the streets while The Spinners’ version was about lost love. Following the Top 40 success of his previous single “Playaz Club,” “I’ll Be Around” became 4-Tay’s second consecutive Top 40 single, peaking at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was also an international hit, topping New Zealand’s pop chart and reaching #5 on the UK Hip-Hop/R&B chart.
