“Unlock It” was scheduled for official release on July 30, 2021, but the release was postponed right before its original release due to complaints from Carti and his label. According to ABRA, Carti postponed the released because he didn’t like the mixing on his verse. ABRA herself posted a clip of the track to her Instagram account, asking fans to “run it up.” A few weeks later, ABRA announced that the song would be officially released on August 20th.
The song marks ABRA’s first release on RCA Records, and her first production collaboration with German producer Boys Noize.
