5D (Fifth Dimension)

The Byrds

I believe the song’s subject matter in general, of endlessly falling through an infinite hole, “as long as I live, All without ending”, as well as essentially experiencing ego death and being reborn a wiser, more loving individual, is both an allegory for the seemingly endless, twisted, psychotically unpredictable nature of time, and the revelation that everyone’s conscious, personal experience exists forever in motion, without pause (the phrase ‘never getting any younger’ comes to mind), as well as a romantic, poetic, and minimalist sort-of “description” of a breakthrough psychedelic experience and/or the personal revelations attained from such an experience, hence the description of the narrator’s belief that he is dying and existence is ending.

PROPOSED SUGGESTION: it’s about achieving enlightenment and ascending to the fifth dimension where time, space and duality don’t exist. (that certainly works, too lol)
