“679” is a party anthem by Fetty Wap and his Remy Boyz crew that Fetty calls a “turn up song.”

The song was originally released on Fetty Wap’s SoundCloud in early 2014, but didn’t blow up until it was re-released with a music video on WorldStarHipHop in May 2015. For Fetty’s album, P. Dice’s verse was replaced by another Fetty verse.

Fetty took to Twitter to explain that the title of the song comes from his birthday, June 7, 1991.

Produced by long-time collaborator Peoples, the beat was initially intended for Coke Boy rapper Velous who was looking for a Ty Dolla $ign type of feel. Since his team wasn’t really feeling it, Peoples began adding drums and that’s when Fetty jumped on the track with Monty. The two were finished in an hour.
