Anne-Marie and Little Mix met in 2019 during Fusion Festival and exchanged numbers. The collaboration between the artists has been in the talks for a long time.
In 2021, Leigh-Anne Pinnock (from Little Mix) did an interview with Capital FM in which she gave a clue of the song: ‘Uh-oh.’ Many mixers found a similarity between the song of the LM5 album, ‘Wasabi.’
June 30th, Anne-Marie liked a tweet about a fan claiming ‘the one that features little mix 🙃.’ A day later, Little Mix posted a selfie of member Jade Thirlwall with the caption ‘uh oh.’ Soon Anne-Marie retweeted and made mixers & ninjas try to find more clues.
It was confirmed on Friday the 9th of July that the song will be the fourth single from Anne-Marie’s sophomore album and will be released on the 23rd of July. As well, was confirmed that the music video will be filmed on the 9th. She stated: “I hope it’s gonna be very funny to people because we’re recreating something that I love a lot.” The music video was supposed to be filmed on the 7th of June but was cancelled hours before due to staff member testing positive of COVID-19.
A snippet of the song was released on the platform TikTok to promote the song on the 16th of July.
