Released in 2012, “Back in Time” is the tie-in theme song of the film “Men in Black 3.” The previous two movies in the franchise also had rapped theme songs, those by the movies' star Will Smith. Smith, who hadn’t rapped since 2005, was replaced by a more bankable rapper, Pitbull.

The song samples Mickey and Sylvia’s “Love Is Strange,” a rhythm and blues song from 1956. The entire chorus of the original is transplanted here.
