“6 Degrees” is the second single from Houston’s solo releases.

Once again inspired by the ‘90s work of Depeche Mode, “6 Degrees” is based on 1997’s “Home” and various tracks off of Massive Attack’s downtempo LP Mezzanine. It’s also worth noting that the ending of the song pays homage to the “You should be sleeping, my love” section in Garbage’s “Hammering In My Head.”

The lyrics of the track are taken almost word-for-word from Houston’s secret diary entries during the summer of 2020 while suffering through a torrid ‘situationship’ with a boy. Excerpts from the complete text are spoken in the “Siren Mix.”
