I wrote this song all alone, far before ARCHIS ever came to be. I was at my lowest at this point: without a label, again, and without direction or fight. I think that’s the scariest thing when you realize that you’re starting to lose your fight. That’s when I wrote “Blood.” It’s about regaining your spirit and searching for inspiration and hope when you feel lost and unsure of yourself. It’s about waking up. There’s been a lot of times when I thought to myself, “Go back home. Go back to Utah where you grew up. Get married. Be happy. Stop chasing after things. Stop worrying and stressing and aching for something that may never come.” But J.K. Simmons said it best. Not verbatim, but something along the lines of, “If you can’t think about doing anything else but what it is you want, there’s your answer.”
