Linkin Park

The 5th track on Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory. It won a Grammy in 2002 for Best Hard Rock Performance.

The song alternates between rap-sung lyrics by Mike Shinoda and varied pitches of singing from Chester Bennington.

Chester claims it is hard to perform this song live due to his own personal experience similar to the problems in the song.

The music video for this song was directed by the Brother Strause and depicts a young woman portrayed by Katelyn Rosaasen and her struggles with an abusive boyfriend. The surrounding crystals represent her alienation from the world. Linkin Park is seen performing in a Fortress of Solitude-esque location. At the end of the video, the crystals are no longer seen, representing the woman’s escape from the relationship.
