All Through the Night

Cyndi Lauper

“All Through The Night” was penned quickly by Jules Shear in a rented house in England as his wife’s band rehearsed. He released it on his own album the same year it was covered by Lauper for her debut album She’s So Unusual.

It was her fourth single release and fourth consecutive top 5 in the US, reaching #5 in late 1984. It notably achieved success without a music video, which was almost mandatory with the international success of MTV at the time.

“All Through The Night” also made the top 30 in four countries overseas.
