Boys In The Street

Calum Scott

“Boys In The Street” is the fifth single from Calum Scott’s sophomore album, Bridges. Released to commemorate Pride Month, the song is a cover of the Greg Holden track of the same name, which details a gay male’s troubled relationship with his disapproving father, who eventually accepts his sexuality on the brink of death.

In the Bridges trailer, Scott explained his experience with the song when singer-songwriter Hayley Warner recommended the song to him:

Hayley had said that she’d heard this song and it really moved her and she wanted me to hear it. She played “Boys In The Street” by Greg Holden. I remember it’s one of the only songs I’ve ever heard that I was very physically moved by. I have a strong allegiance to the LGBTQ+ community; this song helped me delve into that without me saying what I’ve said on the first album.
