The Fall

The Fall

Lovejoy

In “The Fall”, Wilbur Soot sings from the perspective of the wealthy, who have begun to grow apathetic about life, experience depression, and take antidepressants to feel better, up until the point where they have a mental breakdown. The song incorporates explicit references to the tense political climate in Britain, specifically the hopelessness that many opponents of the conservative party feel upon seeing them gain more and more power in recent years.

“The Fall” includes a moderately fast rock beat heavily accompanied with the drumset and electric guitars. Lovejoy teased a recording session of the song in June 2021. After the song released, Genius released an article that broke down parts of the song.
