Suicidal Thoughts in the Back of the Cadillac

Pouya

One of his most popular songs ever, the South Side Slugs opener is a fan favorite at Pouya’s shows.

Over yet another Mikey the Magician-produced beat, Pouya explains how even though he’s ‘made it,’ he’s still struggling with mental health issues. The Florida rapper also mentions one of his musical inspirations, the Armenian rock band System of a Down.

The music video for “Suicidal Thoughts In The Back Of The Cadillac” features footage from concerts with New Orleans duo $UICIDEBOY$. It’s directed by Roberto Mario, who later shot the video for his Underground Underdog cut “Scrubs.”

Upwards of three years after initial release, Pouya released the sequel. His sophomore record, FIVE FIVE, featured the heavily requested “Suicidal Thoughts in the Back of the Cadillac Pt. 2.” The track focuses on the same subjects as part one:

Them suicidal thoughts inside the Cadillac won’t fade away
Another day I piss away, another day don’t go my way
