In “Camden,” Gracie struggles with intrusive thoughts that are continuously haunting her. She reveals multiple insecurities she feels regarding her self-image, ideas about the world and her need for external validation at times.

Although it seems like she’s addressing someone throughout the song, it’s highly likely that Gracie is talking to herself. She’s conversing with herself about the struggles and hardships she went through. Despite being intimidating, she’s being honest with herself; which is specifically evident through the bridge, where she confesses being completely broken. Gracie knows she has a long way to go, but she’s embracing all parts of herself.

In an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit in November 2022, Gracie revealed that the title is a reference to the town of Camden in Maine, USA. She has familial connections in Maine, and Camden, as well as other songs such as Rockland and Augusta on the album are all neat references to cities in Maine.

Gracie first shared the lyrics to the song on Twitter before the album release.
