As one of the standouts on the album Handwritten, “Aftertaste” depicts Shawn doing a topic change. While most of Shawn’s biggest hits involve him being melancholy or even distraught over a breakup, he seems to actually have a sense of triumph in this song, by claiming that no one will replace him. Another strong side of him is shown by him agreeing to give his ex one last kiss, if only so that she will remember how good he was for her.
