“Girlfriend is Better” is a song by the American New Wave band Talking Heads. It appeared on their fifth album, “Speaking in Tongues”. It peaked at #21 in New Zealand, #59 in Australia, and #99 in the U.K.

The song is supposedly about the interpersonal struggle of a man during a night of dancing and sexual intercourse with a woman of which he is not dating. The “girlfriend” refers to the woman he is dating. He goes through a multitude of thought processes questioning whether his real relationship will exist post experience and trying to convince himself that “this” is a good idea. Kinda like a my mind is telling me no but my body is telling me yes thing.
