Cowboys Don’t Cry

Oliver Tree

“Cowboys Don’t Cry” is a single that Oliver Tree first teased through his social media pages on June 27, 2021, when he announced that he was coming out of retirement to release one last album titled Cowboy Tears.

On July 29, 2021, Oliver performed the song for the first time during his Lollapalooza set.

In late December 2021, it was discovered by fans through YouTube’s copyright detection system that the song, originally thought to be titled “Carousel”, was in fact titled “Cowboys Don’t Cry”. With this news, fans were able to find a lnk.to link for the track and were able to pre-save the track to the streaming service of their choice.

On December 31, 2021, Oliver added the lnk.to to his Instagram, TikTok and Twitter bio at 2pm EST. Twenty minutes later, Oliver posted to his social media pages with the caption saying:

I went all the way to India to perform my country album at the Taj Mahal and they loved it, but my label won’t let me release it until my first single has 100k presaves, hit the link in my bio and presave it so I never have to post “Life Goes On” again!

On January 10, 2022, Oliver posted a video to his TikTok that included a forty-second new snippet of the song. Later at 9:17pm EST, Oliver posted the same video to his social media pages with the caption:

MY FIRST SINGLE “COWBOYS DON’T CRY” FROM MY NEW ALBUM IS OUT THIS WEDNESDAY AT 9AM PST. LINK IN BIO TO PRESAVE NOW!

On January 11, 2022, Oliver revealed the track’s cover art on an Instagram post at 3:48 EST with the following caption:

NEW SONG AND NEW MUSIC VIDEO TOMORROW 9AM PST. PRESAVE AT THE LINK IN MY BIO TO HEAR IT FIRST!

On January 12, 2022, at 12pm EST, the track released alongside the release date for the album Cowboy Tears which is expected February 18, 2022.

On January 13, 2022, the day after the single’s release date, Oliver would go to the late night show known as Jimmy Kimmel Live! and perform “Cowboys Don’t Cry” alongside another song of his being “Life Goes On”.
