Initially teased at the end of The Chainsmokers’ performance of their previous single “High” at One Vanderbilt’s SUMMIT in New York City, “iPad” is the second single from The Chainsmokers’ upcoming fourth studio album.

Speaking on the song in an Instagram post prior to the song’s release, Drew Taggart said the song served as a journal for him, letting him express his feelings of isolation. This personal nature is reflected in the fact that “iPad” only has two songwriters: the members of The Chainsmokers themselves.

The song was a commercial success for the duo, marking The Chainsmokers’ twentieth top 10 song on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, debuting and peaking at #6 on the chart.
