YIATI POULI M’

YIATI POULI M’

Marina Satti

The song talks about a bird that can no longer sing, because its wings were cut off. It is a lament inspired from the Fall of Constantinople; a metaphor that describes the inability to live and create having lost your roots. It is a cover of a traditional song from the Greek region of Thrace. Marina Satti grew up in a bi-cultural family and the pursuit of her identity has always been important to her as she has stated in interviews.
