“Tell You Something” is the thirteenth track from American singer and Songwriter Alicia Keys for her third studio album, As I Am. Written and Produced by Keys, Kerry Brothers, Jr., Paul L. Green, Novel Stevenson, Ron Haney and Steve Mostyn. It was released as the single on November 2007, it peaked at No. 1 and No. 4 consecutive weeks from the R&B singles chart.

Alicia explained the song’s background to the Daily Mail on December 14, 2007.

Witnessing a loved one dying was very hard. She was one of the most influential women in my life and seeing her in pain wasn’t nice – there was nothing I could do. I tried to keep a positive outlook, but what will be will be. The song came from the feeling of knowing that I needed to say all these things to her while she was still there. There’s no point bringing flowers to somebody’s funeral. It’s more important to bring the flowers while your loved ones are still alive.
