The ninth track off of Machine Gun Kelly’s sixth studio album, mainstream sellout, “5150” sees Machine Gun Kelly dissect his mental health over a roaring pop-punk beat.

The title of track refers to Section 5150 of California’s Welfare and Institutions Code, which permits an individual in California to be involuntarily detained in a psychiatric hospital for up to 72 hours should they meet one of three criteria: 1) they pose a danger to others as a result of their mental state, 2) they pose a danger to themselves, or 3) they are unable to provide for their basic needs due to their mental state. With California being the home state of MGK, the title of the song, which coincides with the track’s lyrical content, implies Kelly’s fragile mental health has the potential to pose a danger to himself and others around him.

While the song did not reach the Hot 100 chart, it debuted and peaked at #23 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative chart.
