Run, Rabbit, Run!

Run, Rabbit, Run!

Flanagan & Allen

The song was written for Noel Gay’s show, “The Little Dog Laughed”. It was especially popular in World War II, as they poked at the Germans by changing a line in the song to “Run Adolf, Run Adolf, Run, Run, Run”. It was first aired during the outbreak of the Second World War, and shortly after the song was released, the Germans sent the Luftwaffe after Britain, where supposedly two rabbits were killed by a bomb attack.

This song was also featured in several shows, movies and ads, such as the 2017 horror film “Get Out”, where it was used in the beginning and end.

In the 2003 film, “House of 1000 Corpses”, a villain is shown singing the song.

One of it’s most memorable appearances was in the 2016 film “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children”, in the Luftwaffe bomb raiding scene, but also multiple other films/shows.

Walter H. Thompson mentioned in his biography “I was Churchill’s Bodyguard”, that Run, Rabbit, Run was supposedly Winston Churchill’s favorite song. Churchill’s private secretary also claims that the Prime Minister had been singing this song.
