My Jeans

KayCyy

On the highly anticipated “My Jeans,” the track tells KayCyy unattainable fantasy of starting a life with a woman in his life, dreaming of the good times he thinks he will have with her.

Originally first previewed in 2021, KayCyy first teased the track in a now-deleted Instagram post congratulation his manager, Bu Thiam. KayCyy also teased on Twitter of the song, simply stating:

Switches subject , I love my “NEW JEANS” Is actually a song title too! Wtf !!!

Throughout the course of 2022, KayCyy heavily teased the song through various snippet and tweets. However in May 2022, the entire song was leaked in its entirety. Despite this, KayCyy continued to promote the then unreleased song, as well as performing a bit of the song during his set at Coachella in July 2022.

KayCyy also once stated in his Discord server that the song was originally meant for his debut studio album, WHO IS KAYCYY?, however since then, the song will now end up on his project Never Been So Sure.

In a tweet from June 6, 2022, KayCyy stated that the song “Hold You Up” featuring Annahstasia and Steven Bamidele was the warm up track to this song:

Song of the summer. .. this the warm up to “my jeans” 💿

On September 19, 2022, KayCyy announced on Twitter that the song’s sample had been cleared:

On May 21, 2023, KayCyy took to his Discord server teasing fans that the song would seek a June or July release, alongside his project Never Been So Sure being released in July or August.

After various tweets, sample clearance issues, and much anticipated waiting from fans, on August 1, 2023, KayCyy’s team took to Discord to share four cover arts originally made for the song. Fans were given the choice to vote on which cover art would be the main one for the song, however none of the cover arts shown were picked.

The day before the song’s release, KayCyy took to his Discord server questioning his fans if they wanted “My Jeans” or the song with KAYTRANADA. He later confirmed that the song would be released on August 4.

That same day, KayCyy took to Twitter sharing the song’s official cover art, which simply displayed a message towards Travis Scott, after not being credited as a featured artist on the song “THANK GOD” off UTOPIA. The cover art has since been changed.
