Call My Bluff

Call My Bluff

Pusha T

The song “Call My Bluff” was produced by Pharrell Williams as part of Pusha T’s 2022 “It’s Almost Dry” album.

Push is known as G.O.O.D. Music label’s “hitter”, meaning the track could be a metaphor for how swiftly Pusha T can respond to a sneak diss; and by sending goons and thugs.

The track is possibly a response to Drake; shortly before the release of the album, a Jack Harlow song featuring Drake was leaked. In the leaked song, Drake makes multiple sneak disses towards Pusha T:

My urges for revenge are uncontrollable
I know we’re gettin’ older though, yeah
But I gotta get a nigga back for that
It’s non-negotiable, it’s not even debatable

It’s well known that Pusha T landed a huge victory against Drake in 2018 with a devastating diss track.

Pusha T’s infamous The story of Adidon was known for leaking private information about Drake and using it against him, most notably Drake conceiving a child with a Pornstar Sophie Brussaux and allegedly not taking care of the child.

All I hear is plug talk comin’ from middleman
All I hear is tall tales comin’ from little men

This is the second sneak diss towards Pusha T as it’s well known to most hiphop fans that Pusha T’s music is centered around his past as a drug dealer.

If I see ya’, I spit in ya’ faces, ha-tu
Daytonas with the green faces

This is the final confirmation that the Drake verse is a diss to Pusha T, as the line references Daytona, a watch which is also the name of Pusha T’s most critically acclaimed and beloved solo album.

Due to the context at the time of the release, the song is likely Pusha T warning Drake; if he keeps sneak dissing and thinking Pusha T is bluffing, he will respond by leaking even more private information.

At the time of “The Story of Adidon”’s release, it was believed that Push had even more information that would be leaked in future diss tracks should Drake respond, as was referenced at the end of the diss track:
“We gon' take this slow
We just gon' peel it back layer-by-layer”.

However, this is just speculation, as Pusha T himself said in an interview that he didn’t feel that he should respond as he thought the leaked song was old and underwhelming since Drake was only sneak dissing after Pusha T had already landed major hits to Drake and had gone past sneak disses.
