In “Daffodil”, Florence Welch develops on the subject of finding happiness in small moments of life, as she previously did in Florence + The Machine’s fourth studio album, High as Hope. The pandemic took from her some of those small moments, such as walking out to get coffee and pick flowers.

The daffodil is a small yellow flower, also known as narcissus, which was adopted as the national flower of Wales. It is also Florence’s father’s favourite flower, which made her interested in them.

A few days after Dance Fever was released, Jack Antonoff, one of the record’s producers, shared a photo of Florence Welch in studio with a bouquet of daffodils.
