On “Lights”, British singer-songwriter and producer Ellie Goulding talks about literally not being able to sleep with the light off. Over the synthpop production courtesy of Ashe Howes and Richard Stannard, “Lights” is intense yet calming all in one.

Despite only reaching #49 in the U.K. “Lights” performed extremely well around the world and propelled Goulding to a newfound musical success. After spending 33 weeks on the chart, “Lights” became a sleeper hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and spent over a year on the chart; a feat few songs have achieved. It reached the top 10 and 20 of numerous other countries.

“Lights” was released on February 16, 2011 as the second single from Bright Lights, the reissue of her debut album Lights.
