“Abraham, Martin, And John” was written in response to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy. Also mentioned is the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, as well as that of John F. Kennedy. All four of these individuals had a large impact with civil rights issues, and their deaths are arguably related to the progress each was making.
