“1000 X’s & O’s” is the tenth song from Prince’s 38th studio album HITnRUN: phase one.

The song, originally titled “A 1,000 Hugs and Kisses,” was composed and demoed in 1992 with Rosie Gaines on lead vocals. When she and Prince parted way professionally, he held onto the song and recorded a version with Nona Gaye on lead vocals – that version remained unreleased as well.

Until its release on HITnRUN in 2015, the only time the song had been heard was during a solo piano section of a London concert in 2007 and over the PA following a November 2014 FKA twigs show at Paisley Park.
