In “Heart on My Sleeve” Chlöe finds herself going through a break-up and heartbreak as well as a hard period of time in her life. The interlude works as a connection to the final and title track of the album, In Pieces.

While chatting with her fans on Discord, she releaved that it was one of the first tracks she wrote for the record in 2021 and that it was mixed with another track called “What About Me.” Chlöe also said that she wanted “Heart on My Sleeve” to be the title of her project, but changed it due to Ella Mai’s 2022 album of the same name.

A snippet of the song was used for her album announcement on January 24, 2023.
