New York Groove

New York Groove

Ace Frehley

The most successful solo release by any member of KISS, this was the lead single off Frehley’s 1978 self-titled debut effort. While originally released by the band Hello in 1975, the cover works splendidly due to Frehley’s rocking production and the sincerity of his delivery. As a New Yorker, Frehley’s connection to the city was very real, and his reputation as perennially spaced out, yet dedicated to partying, lends the track an autobiographical bent. This is especially notable given the numerous lyrical changes that were made between the original and Frehley’s version.

It is the lead track on most versions of the Best of Solo Albums compilation, and is included on every incarnation of that release.
